How to Decorate a Chandelier for Christmas

Well it happened. I have officially started decorating for Christmas. I know it's still probably a bit early for some of you, but this is actually late for me. Believe it or not, I already had my tree up this time last year. Yep, I was in full blown Christmas mode by the second week of November. Crazy, I know. But I decided to wait a bit longer this year for a few different reasons and I'm actually really glad I did. Instead of doing it way early, I've been slowly transitioning from fall to Christmas over the past few days and it's been a nice change. I'm actually planning to go a different route this year with my Christmas decor and I'm really excited to do something new. I'll be sharing all that soon, but today's post is a really fun one because I'm sharing how to decorate a chandelier for Christmas. I actually decided to share this today because our dining room chandelier was the very first thing I decorated for Christmas this year. I have no idea why, but for whatever random reason I was really excited to decorate our chandeliers. They're often overlooked when it comes to Christmas decor, but they have so much potential! And it's seriously so easy, you can get it done in just a few minutes. Ok, enough rambling–let's get into it!

There are a few different ways you can decorate your chandelier for Christmas, but today I'm going to share how I did it using fresh cedar garland. I love fresh garland during the holidays, don't you?! It's definitely one of my favorite parts of Christmas decor. I bought mine at Home Depot, but you can also do this with any Christmas garland you already have on hand.

This garland is 15 feet long, so I had to trim it down to make it work for my chandelier. Just simply measure how much length you need to wrap the garland around the chandelier, then cut it to size. Be sure to add a few extra inches so that the garland can overlap a bit and won't fall through the arms of the chandelier.

Once you have the garland trimmed down, start laying it on the arms of your chandelier. Make sure the arms are evenly spaced apart, sometimes they can move around.

I love using fresh garland like this because it has such a pretty way of hanging on the arms of the chandelier. Little pieces fall at different lengths, which creates kind of a waterfall effect. If any of the pieces are too long for your liking, you can just trim them down a bit.

Lastly I added a thin red berry garland on top just to give it a little pop of color. And that's it. All done!

This is seriously so stinkin' easy. I mean, it only takes maybe 10 minutes to do but it really does make a big impact. This adds so much coziness to the room and I feel like this is such a classy, elegant look for Christmas. And like I said earlier, you could easily do this with any garland you already have on hand–just trim it to size and call it good. Your dining room will look amazing!
